As the world is forever changing and people are moving with the times, we can’t but stop and think about great pastime hobbies which are “so not cool” in the eyes of many millenials.
When videogames, pop culture music and memes are the current trend in today’s world, what ever happened to these hobbies?
Stamp Collecting
The ultimate pastime hobby dates back over 100 years. Heck, our great grandparents collected stamps like I collected Pokemon cards in the 90’s.
Stamp collecting is coming back slowly into fashion for those who want to pull out an album and show it off to there buddies.
With such a old fashioned hobby coming back, we can’t help but think that its a good thing. Preserving culture and history into one’s interest is all the more reason to keep stamp collecting alive!
Vinyl Bruh….
Not a DJ? Not a problem!
Whoever said vinyl is dead is far from correct. Vinyl collection is growing by the day, and there’s no stopping it.
Many argue that although purchasing mp3’s from iTunes or creating that dope spotify playlist is the modern approach to listening to music, there is a huge culture of vinyl collectors who jsut cant get enough of it.
We’re just wondering is VHS or CD will be a thing soon? (VHS kind of already is)
Vintage Signs
If you’ve ever watched Grease, you’ll know what we’re talking about. Even on American pickers, viewers are amazed at the values of battered old rusty signs.
The reason? They’re scarcity.
Vintage signs for collectors are like wins to sommeliers, they can’t get enough of them, and each tell a different story.
Hipsters are splashing out to have their walls covered with “art,” and those signs fit right in.
Nothing is more cooler than an original gas station sign hanging above your bed at night, right?
Model Building (You know, planes & stuff….)
This is actually one of our personal favourites, and we’re glad to see it’s still going!
Model stores are getting rarer by the day, but the fan base behind it still stands strong.
Nothing is more satsifying then putting together an olld world war 2 tank model from scratch, painting it up and setting it on your shelf with the rest of your masterpieces.
Studies show that this hobby is not only growing in popularity, but also has calming and focus effect on those who do it.
Next time you’re unfocused or a little overwhelmed, assemble and paint a battleship.
Knitting (This Is Actually Pretty Awesome!)
There are hundreds, no scratch that, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of blogs on knitting, and its not stopping anytime soon!
What used to be a typical hobby of our grandmothers and great mothers in now becoming a mainstream passion for many.
Knitting scarves, jumpers and beanies are really cool projects which when completed form start to finish, can be SUPER rewarding.
More so, crochet and quilting are also more popular than ever!
Cooking (Our Absolute FAVOURITE)
We are big foodies, and when i say big, I mean WE LIVE FOR FOOD!
Food culture is like an epidemic. More and more food trucks, food festivals and blogs are popping up by the day.
The common link? There is just so much to learn.
Making delicious and nutritious comfort food is the growing trend nowadays. With people being more conscious about that they eat, the vegan niche is seamlessly growing in numbers.
Learning to make food has never been easier as well.
With limitless tutorials & recipes to be found on the internet, someone can pick up a great recipe and with a bit of practise whip up a 3 star michelin equivalent dish.
