What was once known as the The English 1st Division and later renamed The English Premier League, it is unquestionably one of the most exciting football leagues on the planet and this season’s league is no exception.

With 22 teams all competing at the highest level, the standard of football is hard to beat and with each team allowed a certain quota of foreign players, the Premier League certainly showcases some of the best players in the world in today’s game.
Besides the league cup being the most sought after trophy in English football, the winning club also receives a handsome monetary reward for their achievement that can be as much as £150M Sterling, money that can be well-spent on buying new players whilst also improving the club’s facilities.
Teams that finish in the top four of the Premier League, automatically qualify to compete in the UEFA Champions League which includes the top four teams from each league throughout Europe and one that arguably offers the most coveted prize in club football with an even bigger monetary reward than the Premier League along with massive boasting rights.

This season’s English Premier League can only be described as one of the most exciting for years with the top position switching more than 25 times between Liverpool and last year’s title winners, Manchester City.
The two teams have been battling it out week after week since the beginning of the season with as little as one point between them and as the end of the season fast approaches, the outcome of their next few games is crucial to both teams with no room for error from either side.

The margin of points between the two top contenders and the rest of the division is too great for any other team to have a chance of winning the Premier League this season, however, with very few points separating the next six teams, they too are having a battle royale to see who will automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League next year.
At the bottom of the table another battle is taking place with six teams desperately fighting it out to avoid relegation to the lower Championship Division. With only 14 points achieved this season, Huddersfield Town has already met its fate and has been relegated to the lower division next season. Wth just a few points separating the rest of the teams lying at the bottom of the table, the battle for survival is equally as fierce as the one taking place for 1st place at the top of the table.
Current title holder’s Manchester City began the season as favourites to retain their spot at the top of the table and they haven’t disappointed. With a huge budget available and after record spending, the team has purchased some of the top players in the world. The depth of their squad is the envy of most other clubs who would be proud to even have the club’s bench reserves on their side.

The thorn in the side of Manchester City and hindrance to them achieving back to back premier league titles this season lies a mere 60 miles away at Merseyside, Liverpool. With 18 previous League Title wins, Liverpool Football Club is second only to Manchester United as far League titles are concerned with Manchester United having attained 20. Liverpool head the list of English teams to have won the UEFA Champions League with a total of 5 Titles ahead of Manchester United’s 3.
Under the enthusiastic management of two title winning Managers, this year’s Premier League race promises to go right to the wire. Pep Guardiola for Manchester City wants it desperately after his team was recently eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Tottenham Hotspur. With equal zest and enthusiasm, Jurgen Klopp wants to end Liverpool’s first league title since 1999.

Although both teams have slightly different strengths with very few weaknesses, both teams deserve to be the main contenders for the title and anyone who can predict the winner of this year’s Premier League Title, must be clairvoyant.
